Professional Development Courses

The MPS Research Unit has prepared a suite of professional development courses that may be commissioned by a company or organisation, tailored to meet special requirements and presented at a location of your choice both for statisticians and non-statisticians. A selection of these courses is scheduled each year for presentation at Lancaster University.

Services

We work with partners in public sector medical research institutions and the pharmaceutical industry. Our services are available for anyone interested in statistical methods for drug development and are frequently taken up by pharmaceutical companies, medical research institutions and clinical trial units.

Collaborations with our partners range from providing advice and consultancy for clinical and pre-clinical studies over the course of a few days to the joint development and publication of novel methodology in research partnerships that last several years. Experience with regulators has included attendance at meetings to discuss design issues, participation in teleconferences and correspondence about protocols and attendance at final licensing hearings. Most of these contacts have concerned the FDA, but others have been with European agencies. Our professional development courses are aimed at graduate level statisticians with experience in the industry, and are scheduled in Lancaster as well as being available for presentation at a client’s own site.
